Examinations For External Candidates
External candidates
We accept applications from Private (External) Candidates for any examination – any subject, any unit, any awarding body (examination board), provided no language oral, science practical or coursework component of any description is involved (but please see next paragraph).
We do, however, accept applications from Private Candidates who have already submitted coursework for a previous session, and would like the mark to be transferred to a future entry. We will do all the necessary administration – you do not even have to forward your previous coursework to us. You must however provide us with a copy of your Statement of Results from the past examination session in which you submitted the relevant piece(s) of coursework.
All Private Candidates who register for examinations at David Game College can expect:
• a fast, accurate, efficient service
• no unnecessary restrictions; for example, you do not need to be studying the same
period of History or the same English Literature text as our own internal
candidates in order for your application to be accepted.
• timetable clashes to be resolved without fuss
• applications for Access Arrangements (where relevant) to be dealt with tactfully
and professionally
• Statements of Entry to be annotated to cover timetable clashes, to show 100%
correct information (subject and personal details), and to be distributed to students
well ahead of the examinations they relate to.
• to be provided with all necessary materials where it is our responsibility, for
example formula booklets for AS/A Level Mathematics, pre-release material for
AS level Business Studies, and so on.
• all issues relating cash-in codes to be dealt with without fuss.
Deadlines:
May/June 2008 GCSE and IGCSE examinations
No more applications are being accepted; the next available session is November 2008 (please see below).
May/June 2008 GCE AS and A level examinations
We are still considering applications from Private Candidates for these examinations, but we cannot guarantee every examination at this very late stage. Charges (inclusive of late entry fees) are £ 100 per unit. Please telephone Mr Kahn (the Examinations Officer) on 020 7221 6665 ext 223 in the first instance.
November 2008 GCSE and IGCSE examinations
We will accept applicafions from Private Candidates for Edexcel IGCSE examinations; closing date is Friday 12th September, with a charge of £ 120 per subject. After this date the charge will increase to £ 150 per subject. We will not accept applications for GCSE examinations unless the candidate is in a position to carry forward the coursework component(s) from a previous session, and can produce the relevant statements of results as supporting documenation.
January 2009 GCE AS and A level examinations
The closing date for normal entries is Friday 10th October with the charge being £ 60 per unit; after this date the fee will increase to £ 120 per unit. Please be aware that in January 2009 some of the units relating to the new specifications will be examined for the first time, so it is absolutely essential that you clarify whether you are studying for the legacy ("old") specification or the brand new specification when you apply to register. As ever you should be able to quote the relevant code for the unit(s) you wish to take.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR EXAMINATIONS AT DAVID GAME COLLEGE
You will need to come to the College at 69 Notting Hill Gate to register. There is no need to book an appointment; simply turn up on any weekday afternoon (Monday-Friday) between 2.00 and 5.00 p.m., and go to the Examination Officer Mr Kahn's office (Room D4 on the 2nd floor).
You will need to bring with you:
• two passport-sized photographs of yourself
• proof of your identity (eg passport, driving licence)
• your most recent official Statement(s) of Results; if you have more than one
(e.g. one from AQA, one from Edexcel), it is important that you show us all
of them, even if they relate to subjects you will not be taking in your future
examinations. This is to enable us to check your Unique Candidate Identifier
(UCI), and to resolve any associated problems (for example, if your previous
school has made the mistake of allocating you a new UCI when you already
had one from elsewhere).
