Student Welfare and Pastoral Care

We offer all our students the care and support they need to feel secure and to be successful in their studies. The David Game College teaching and administrative team is friendly and approachable, and always happy to help students outside the classroom, as well as guiding them through their academic studies. Students are encouraged to seek support and advice whenever they need it, and they will usually be able to talk with someone who shares their cultural background and language.

Senior College Adviser, Mrs Gul Chugani, takes a personal interest in each student at the College and has many years of experience helping students cope with their studies and with living far from home.

Orientation

To help our students settle into their life at David Game College, we organise an orientation session for everyone, and each student is given a College Handbook. We also provide a comprehensive overview of the opportunities that London has to offer and help sort out such practical matters as registering with a doctor or dentist.

International Students

David Game College students come from all over the world, and our experienced International Officer, Terry Kwok, provides advice and help with visas and necessary documentation, on Home Office regulations and work permits. In addition, she provides advice on many practical matters such as accommodation, student discounts on travel, insurance, and opening bank accounts.

GCSE Students

The Head of GCSE, Miss Lamya Nageh, monitors GCSE students and liaises with their parents and tutors. As well as subject classes, the GCSE students have timetabled study periods in the library, and they are provided with all the pastoral care appropriate for their age. Students aged under 16 years are asked to sign in and out of College, and are provided with additional supervision and support.

A Level Students

Attendance and academic performance are carefully monitored, and the Director of Admissions and Director of Studies provide the student with any necessary additional guidance or supervision to support them through their time at the College.

University and Career Guidance

Students have regular meetings with the UCAS Adviser, Mike Kahn, throughout their time at College, who provides them with information and advice on careers, degree courses and university entrance requirements. Specialist advice is given to students intending to apply for particularly competitive courses (e.g. Medicine, Law) or the top universities. Students are given all guidance and support necessary throughout the university application process (UCAS), including advice on writing personal statements and mock interviews as preparation. A wide range of reference books on careers and university degree courses and all UK university prospectuses are available both in the library and in the UCAS Adviser's office. >> Read more

Examinations

David Game College is a centre for the four UK Examination Boards and selects the most appropriate specification for each subject. A Level courses have shifted in recent years to a modular structure, which gives students greater flexibility when selecting when to take exams, and whether to re-sit papers in order to obtain higher grades. Our Vice Principal, Mike Kahn, gives expert guidance to students to assist them with these decisions and holds a large stock of past exam papers for student and tutor use.

English Language Support

For our students where English is a second language, we offer a wide range of courses through our specialist English Language division of David Game College, Kensington Academy of English. This includes providing English language support for students studying mainstream academic courses.

Accommodation

David Game College has always recognised that one of the biggest pressures on students coming to study with us can be finding secure and affordable accommodation. We therefore offer a number of warden protected self-catering residences located a short distance from the College. As an alternative, we also provide a David Game approved list of families who offer rooms and full catering to our students. All homestay families are carefully checked and adults undergo security screening to ensure compliance with child protection legislation. >> Read more

Life in London

Living and studying in London is an education in its own right. David Game College is located in the heart of London, which gives students easy access to all that the city can offer: world-renowned museums, theatres, concert halls, opera houses, galleries and libraries, and our tutors arrange many outings geared to their specific courses.

A major city can also be quite overwhelming to newcomers, and all our staff are on hand to help students find their way around, and to help them feel comfortable in their new environment.
