Duration of Course

Students who have just completed GCSE, IGCSE or overseas equivalent would normally enrol for the 2 year A Level course. In the first term, students are taught the language and basic terminology of the subjects studied and are given much help in bridging the considerable gap which still exists between GCSE and AS Level. The remainder of the first year is spent on covering the three units of the AS Level, which are taken in May/June. The A2 units are studied during the second year, when students are given the opportunity to improve the marks obtained in the AS units where appropriate.

If you have taken your AS Levels elsewhere and need to retake them, there are two possible courses of action. You may come to David Game College and follow the 2 year A Level course described above; alternatively, it may be more appropriate – in the light of the AS marks obtained at your previous school or College – to enrol for our 1 year A Level intensive course. In this course we cover every topic across the six units of the subject, but with most of the time devoted to the more demanding A2 units.

Some students may have been highly successful in their AS units at other schools or Colleges, but nevertheless feel the need for a change of approach, or a more stimulating, invigorating environment in which the expectations of the teachers and students are that much higher. Students in this position should apply to join our A2 course, in which they will join students who have already (and successfully) completed their AS Level studies here.

If you have completed your A Level course at another school or College and need to raise your grades, you should enrol for our 1 year A  Level intensive course as already described.
